In an extended conversation with his son Victor, Irvin Yalom explores the entire arc of his career from a medical student, group therapist, existential therapist and ties the strands of his thoughts, developments and contributions together.
Three clients, three different issues, yet their presenting problems all have roots in some deeper existential concerns.
See how Yalom does not shy away from addressing issues many of us avoid, and how doing so helps bring relief and insights to the clients' struggles.
Discussion questions and skill building exercises to trigger reflection on key issues in Yalom's approach and enable you to practice some of the core skills demonstrated in sessions.

"Irvin Yalom and the Art of Psychotherapy is exceptional. The vignettes provide the viewer with the opportunity to see Yalom apply some of the basic tenets of his work to his interactions with clients, and include insights into his case conceptualizations and decision making processes regarding treatment interventions. This video highlights the importance of being open as a therapist and the value of pursuing ongoing personal and professional development."
"Irvin Yalom and the Art of Psychotherapy is a candid look at the life and work of Dr. Irvin Yalom. Revealing not the books or information, but the people and relationships that shaped and taught him. More than just techniques, the course invites us into Irvin's ways of being with clients, as well as his unending pursuit of clients' truths, his patience and authenticity, and his deeply held care for his clients. "
"As a deep admirer of Dr Yalom's books I was captivated from the very beginning of the videos and gained a wealth of knowledge and insights from just watching his interactions with the clients. It was an honour to witness a master craftsman at his art, a truly wise and caring man. "
"What a magnanimous work! In this series of videos and conversations, Drs. Yalom and Yalom gift us all with an X-ray picture of strategies from group to individual psychotherapy; very useful for family therapists, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and any other professional healthcare providers."
"In this course we are afforded a glimpse into the process of existential therapy in such an inviting manner, as Dr. Yalom demonstrates a calming and accepting presence to his clients. The sessions cover a variety of topics, and we see exactly how to address the here-and-now and meet the client’s presenting concerns first while taking note of bigger and more complex ideas and belief structures. This course is one in which a seasoned professional can garner just as much knowledge as a beginning student and also witness a master of the craft in his element. "
